Rep. Ciscomani Votes in Favor of FY 2027 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill Out of Committee

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani voted in support of the Fiscal Year 2027 Homeland Security Appropriations bill as it advanced out of committee, delivering reliable funding for the men and women who protect our homeland and serve communities across Southeastern Arizona.

As Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, Ciscomani helped lead the effort to shape this legislation and ensure federal investments are focused on strengthening national security, supporting the DHS workforce, and protecting communities across Arizona and the country.

Ciscomani has been a fierce advocate for the dedicated employees of the Department of Homeland Security who carry out some of our nation's most important missions. He recently led efforts to provide these frontline defenders with greater certainty during funding disruptions by sponsoring the Pay Our Homeland Defenders Act in the House which passed with bipartisan support.

The FY 2027 Homeland Security Appropriations bill builds on that work by delivering the resources necessary to secure the border, combat the flow of deadly fentanyl, strengthen disaster response, and maintain readiness across every component of DHS. For Arizona communities, these investments are especially critical as families, law enforcement, and first responders continue to feel the impacts of border security challenges firsthand.

"Securing our border and keeping our communities safe requires more than promises; it requires leadership and action," said Rep. Juan Ciscomani. "As Vice Chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, I am proud to help lead the effort to provide the Department of Homeland Security with the resources and certainty it needs to protect our nation. For Arizona, this is personal. The challenges at our southern border are felt by families, law enforcement, and communities across our state every single day. This bill strengthens our ability to meet those challenges head-on by giving our border security personnel, first responders, and DHS workforce the support they need to carry out their ever-so-critical mission. I will continue fighting to ensure Arizona has a strong voice at the table in Congress and that those who protect our homeland have the tools and support necessary to succeed."

The FY 2027 Homeland Security Appropriations bill includes critical investments including:

  • $34.1 billion for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to strengthen disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
  • $18.3 billion for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to secure the border, disrupt fentanyl trafficking, and support lawful trade and travel.
  • $14.6 billion for the U.S. Coast Guard to conduct maritime safety operations, search and rescue missions, drug interdiction efforts, and protect critical waterways.
  • $11.2 billion for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to secure airports and safeguard millions of travelers.

The bill now moves to the House Floor for consideration, where Rep. Juan Ciscomani will continue to take a leading role advocating for this vital lifeline for Arizona's Sixth District by securing the border and ensuring the DHS workforce receives the support it needs to fulfill its mission to protect our homeland.
