Senators Rev. Warnock, Ossoff Expanding Early Childhood Education for Savannah Families

Savannah, Ga. - U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock are delivering resources to help expand early childhood education in Savannah.

Following local investments and leadership from Chatham County and the City of Savannah, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock brought Republicans and Democrats together to help Chatham County purchase playground equipment, classroom furniture, and kitchen appliances for the new early childhood learning center in East Savannah, which will serve kids between six weeks and three years old.

Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock are delivering $1,678,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on February 3.

"Every child in Georgia deserves a high-quality, safe, and healthy early education," Sen. Ossoff said. "That's why Senator Reverend Warnock and I brought Republicans and Democrats together to expand early childhood education for families across Savannah."

"Having been raised on Cape Street, I understand how important these funds will be to the city of Savannah and its children," said Senator Warnock. "Early childhood learning is a key part of youth development, and I am proud to have worked alongside Senator Ossoff to deliver this for my hometown."

"We are grateful to have funding for the East Savannah Early Childhood Learning Center included in the THUD Appropriations Bill. This funding will provide children with early educational opportunities that have been limited in this area in the past," Chatham County Chairman Chester A. Ellis said. "A child's experiences from birth to age four can shape the trajectory of the rest of their life, and we believe this Learning Center will allow our youngest residents greater chances of success and lifelong learning."
