SEMO Celebrates Cape Girardeau’s National Recognition as Top 5 College Town in America

"Thank you, to the community, to each and every person, who make this town a home for the 9,000 students who come here every fall," said Hodson. "Many of them are returning to campus, but many of them are new. Finally, you have received the recognition that you've so richly deserved."

Cape Girardeau's blend of small-town hospitality and growing opportunities earned the national distinction. Hodson said the recognition confirms what many students, alumni and residents already know about the community.

"This recognition gives evidence to what Sue and I knew immediately when we moved here-this is a very special place," said Hodson.
