Tom Tiffany-Backed Medicaid Cuts Halt Reproductive Care in Wisconsin
A new report from the Associated Press reveals that Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin will stop providing abortions as a direct result "of Medicaid funding cuts in President Donald Trump's tax and spending bill" that gubernatorial candidate and Congressman Tom Tiffany praised as "a major win for the American people."
According to the Associated Press, Wisconsin is "the first state where Planned Parenthood is pausing all abortions because of the new law," forcing women to travel at least three hours to access reproductive care.
Tiffany didn't just back Trump's disastrous budget law that rips health care away from 275,000 Wisconsinites and threatens food assistance for 700,000 people - he also has an extreme anti-choice record that's wrong for Wisconsin. Tiffany proudly co-sponsored a bill that would ban abortion before most women know they're pregnant.
"Tom Tiffany sold out Wisconsinites when he put Donald Trump's disastrous agenda ahead of working families - voting to kick hundreds of thousands off their health insurance, restrict access to abortion, and send costs skyrocketing," said DGA spokesperson Izzi Levy. "Tiffany has made it clear that he is running to bring Washington Republicans' extreme and harmful policies to Wisconsin, and if given the chance, he would gladly rip away reproductive freedom from women and families across the state on day one."
