LAS 34811 Granite Construction Company Land Use Permit Application for Staging McKinley Village Pit

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Granite Construction Company

PROJECT NAME: LAS 34811

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Designated material site (ADL 419494/DOT MS 52-2-051-2), located at milepost 230 of the Parks Highway, also known as the McKinley Village Pit.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Within Section 36 of Township 14 South, Range 7 West, Fairbanks Meridian. Further defined as Tract D of ASLS 83-194, recorded as Plat no. 85-11, Nenana Recording District on May 3, 1985. The requested activity would utilize approximately 1 acre of the 13.2-acre material site.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Granite Construction Company requests the reissuance of land use permit activities authorized under LAS 34811 and expiring December 31, 2026. LAS 34811 authorized the use of the above referenced material site as a construction support site for the Polychrome Pass Bridge project in Denali National Park and includes a staging area to store equipment, bridge construction materials, a non-residential mobile office trailer, and portable restroom for staff. General public access to the site would be restricted during project operations; however, entry would still be given to authorized users.

REQUESTED TERM: 5 years

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: September 1, 2026

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity.
