Nonessential travel on Hāna Highway discouraged as Hurricane Nolo passes Maui
Posted on Sep 25, 2026 in Highways News, Main, NewsKAHULUI, Hawai'i - The Hawai'i Department of Transportation (HDOT) is asking residents and visitors to exercise caution and pause nonessential travel to East Maui on Hāna Highway (Route 360) as Hurricane Nolo passes south of the island chain.
The narrow Hāna Highway into East Maui is susceptible to fallen trees, rocks and flooding. The current forecast shows East Maui could potentially receive 4 to 6 inches of rain, with 10 inches in isolated areas. Other areas could see 1 to 3 inches.
