U.S. Wildland Fire Service Wildland Firefighters are Working to Contain Arrow Creek Fire in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks

U.S. Wildland Fire Service wildland firefighters are responding to the Arrow Creek Fire, which was reported on Aug. 22 at 3:26 p.m. The fire is located in a wilderness area of Kings Canyon National Park, in upper Paradise Valley at the confluence of Woods Creek and the South Fork of the Kings River. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The fire is estimated to be approximately 3.5 acres and is 0% contained.

There are currently no evacuations in place.

Wildland firefighters are actively working to suppress the fire using a direct attack strategy, including bucket work, portable pumps and hose.

Fire behavior is currently described as low with spread potential moderated by many natural barriers. Weather conditions in the area include southwest winds at 5-7 mph with gusts up to 12 mph, a high temperature of 79 degrees, and minimum humidity at 22%.

There are no closures in the area currently. Backpackers in the area may experience smoke impacts. Those who are hiking the Rae Lakes loop should use caution near the fire area.
