Mackenzie Introduces Bipartisan Resolution Recognizing Medicare's 61st Anniversary

Washington, D.C. - This week, Congressman Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), representing the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos, introduced a bipartisan resolution recognizing the 61st anniversary of Medicare's enactment and honoring the program's enduring role in providing health coverage to older Americans and individuals with disabilities.

The resolution is led by Congressman Ryan Mackenzie and Congressman Eugene Vindman (VA-07). It is joined by Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), Monica De La Cruz (TX-15), Dina Titus (NV-01), Don Davis (NC-01), Claudia Tenney (NY-24), and Michael Lawler (NY-17).

Signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on July 30, 1965, Medicare has provided health insurance coverage to millions of Americans for more than six decades. Today, the program serves nearly 70 million seniors and individuals with disabilities.

"For 61 years, Medicare has provided millions of Americans with access to quality health care and greater financial security," said Congressman Mackenzie. "This bipartisan resolution recognizes Medicare's lasting impact while honoring the healthcare providers, caregivers, and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services personnel who work every day to ensure beneficiaries receive the care they depend on. Congress must continue to support, protect, and strengthen Medicare for current beneficiaries and future generations."
