HEMPSTEAD, NY - Yesterday, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) hosted a ceremony at the University Club at Hofstra University to recognize and announce the winners of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for New York's 4th Congressional District. Rep. Gillen recognized Gabriella Guizzo of South Side High School as the first-place winner for her artwork entitled "The Hand."
The second-place winner is Kennedy Keoghan of Oceanside High School for her piece "Phoenix." In third place is Angelica Garcia of East Rockaway Jr. Sr. High School for her artwork "The Language of Hands." The fourth-place winner is Adriana Enderica of Lynbrook High School for her piece "Daydreaming."
"I am amazed by the creativity and talent showcased by our students this year's submissions," said Rep. Gillen. "We have some of the greatest artistic talent right here in Nassau County. The year-round Congressional Art Competition exhibit is a highlight of our nation's Capitol and it's a privilege to see such meaningful student work on display. I'm proud that Gabriella's incredible talent will represent New York's Fourth Congressional District."
Each spring, the Congressional Institute hosts a nationwide art competition for high school students, with more than 650,000 participants since its inception in 1982. Local competitions are held by Congressional offices, where panels of district artists select the winning submissions. The selected artwork is displayed in the U.S. Capitol, where it is seen by millions of visitors each year.
