Dentons, Canada's Global Law Firm, is proud to have served as legal advisors to the Department of Justice Canada and Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), on the Alexandra Bridge Replacement Project.
The Firm's work supported the Government of Canada's award of a Development Phase Agreement to Capital Crossing Constructors (CCC), a consortium comprised of Webuild Civil Works Inc., Samsung C&T Ontario 1 Inc. and Green Infrastructure Partners Inc., together with designer AECOM. The contract award marks a major milestone in one of the National Capital Region's most significant infrastructure projects, involving the deconstruction of the existing, 120-year old, Alexandra Bridge and its replacement with a signature interprovincial link between Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Québec.
The project will be delivered through a progressive design-build model, through which the government and the design-builder will work collaboratively to refine project requirements, schedule, pricing and risk management, after which the parties are expected to enter into a Design-Build Agreement for the construction of the new Alexandra Bridge.
This mandate reflects Dentons' deep-rooted experience at the intersection of infrastructure, procurement, construction and public law - a practice built on decades of advising governments, public authorities, private sector developers and other participants on some of Canada's most significant infrastructure and procurement initiatives. From major transportation corridors to transformative public assets and nation-building projects, our team brings the legal acuity, commercial insight and procurement expertise that complex infrastructure delivery demands.
Partners Ilan Dunsky, National Co-leader of the Infrastructure and PPP group and Global Sector Leader for Industrials, Transportation and Infrastructure, Jana Mansour, National Co-leader of the Infrastructure and PPP group, and Lampros Stougiannos led a multidisciplinary Dentons team, including Sabrina Mach, Aljosa Zenicanin and Audréanne Poulin.
The Alexandra Bridge is a federally owned structure maintained by Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and recognized as a site of national historic significance. It serves as an important interprovincial link between Ottawa and Gatineau. For more information, access the press release.
