MaineHealth Memorial Hospital Offers a Quick Stop for Fall Vaccines

Once again, MaineHealth Memorial Hospital is making it easy to check one more item off the fall to-do list. Our drive-through vaccine clinics return on September 26 and October 3, 17, 24 and 31 from 8 am to noon. There will be no clinic on October 10 because of the Columbus Day weekend.

There is no appointment necessary for this convenient way to get a flu shot and stay up to date on COVID-19 vaccination without even getting out of the car. Clinics will be set up in the MaineHealth Memorial Hospital parking area on Route 16, just north of Conway Village. Patients can drive up, receive their vaccine and be on their way.

Both regular-dose and high-dose flu vaccines will be available. The high-dose vaccine is intended for adults age 65 and older. COVID-19 vaccines will be available for individuals age 12 and older. Most insurance providers cover these vaccines, and participants are asked to bring their insurance card.

Organizer Marta Ramsey, RN says fall has a way of getting busy quickly.

"Between getting kids back to school, preparing for winter and enjoying the last days of the season, it's easy to put off a flu shot or COVID vaccination. We're hoping these Saturday clinics make it a little easier to get it done. The drive-through clinics are intended to provide a simple option for area residents who may not want to schedule a separate office visit for vaccination," she adds. "Getting vaccinated is an important part of preparing for the respiratory illness season. It helps protect you and the people around you, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to serious illness."

With five Saturday mornings available, community members can choose the date that works best for them. The process is designed to be quick and convenient. Participants also get to meet MaineHealth Memorial Hospital care team members who volunteer for the morning clinics.

"It's one stop, one Saturday morning and one less thing on your fall to-do list," Ramsey says.
