TULSA, Ok. - The Cherokee Nation and the North Tulsa Cherokee Community Organization (NTCCO) are gathering Thursday to celebrate the grand opening of the new North Tulsa Community Center.

The new $2.2 million facility includes a full kitchen which will operate as an Elder Nutrition site five days a week. The 10-acre lot includes space for outdoor features including a future micro-park, an outdoor pavilion and outdoor restrooms. The community center also includes a stand-by backup generator for emergency management.

The tribe announced the opening of the facility during its Black History Month celebration earlier this week with members of NTCCO present. The community group which was formed in 2020 was previously meeting at the Tulsa Dream Center. NTCCO will work with the tribe to bring services to North Tulsa.
