Australia's "Godfather of Songwriting," Paul Kelly, has released his new album Seventyvia Cooking Vinyl, marking another milestone in his four-decade, thirty-album career. With Seventy, Kelly continues to cement his status as one of Australia's most treasured storytellers - "an icon the country seems to be keeping for its own" as the Associated Press declared. The new album showcases his unparalleled ability to capture the profound within the everyday. Having turned 70 in January, this 13-track collection is his most varied yet, showcasing an artist still at the peak of his powers, drawing from sources as varied as W.B. Yeats, Lord of the Rings and Cicero while maintaining the intimate, deeply human touch that has made him the chronicler of modern life.

Accompanying the album release, Kelly has shared the deeply moving video for his new single "Happy Birthday, Ada Mae," a tender meditation on love, legacy, and the world we pass on to those who come after us. Directed by Kelly's daughter, Maddy Kelly, the video features his granddaughter, two-year-old Ada Mae, creating an extraordinarily intimate portrait of three generations connected through music and love. The song emerged from Kelly's contemplation of what kind of world his granddaughter might face as she grows up; it is a musical gift that captures the hopes, fears, and unconditional love that grandparents hold for their grandchildren.

"In the end, love is all of us that remains," Kelly reflects. "It's a joy working with my daughter and grand-daughter. It fills my heart. Three generations in one little song."

Director Maddy Kelly adds: "Having my dad write this song for my daughter Ada Mae was incredibly special. Her face lights up whenever she hears it-she thinks it's her birthday again. When I was asked to direct the film clip, it felt like a full-circle moment. It was a beautiful task to capture the incredible bond between grandfather and granddaughter, and to preserve that love between my dad and my daughter. It's a memory our family can cherish forever."

"Happy Birthday, Ada Mae" follows the album's first two singles, "Rita Wrote A Letter " - a follow-up to his 1996 classic "How to Make Gravy" (a song so beloved and iconic in Australia it has inspired an unofficial national holiday, "Gravy Day" on December 21) - and "The Body Keeps The Score." Both demonstrate Kelly's continued ability to tap into the cultural conversation while maintaining the poetic intimacy that has always defined his work.

The album's cover, featuring a striking portrait by photographer Dean Podmore, pays homage to the iconic 1988 Jon Lewis photograph of Paul - a visual echo that bridges nearly four decades of artistry and reflects the album's themes of taking stock and celebrating continuity.

Seventy traces its inspiration from Chaucer'sThe Canterbury Tales to Boccaccio'sDecameron, where disparate souls come together to swap yarns and keep the darkness away. "Telling stories is deeply human and has been since we started to become humans," says Kelly. Seventy represents both a reflection on a life richly lived and a continuation of Kelly's fearless exploration of what it means to be human.

Kelly will also headline the Red Hot Summer tour in Australia, bringing his legendary live performances to audiences across the country. His inclusion as headliner on one of the country's most beloved touring festivals underscores his status as a national treasure whose music transcends generational divides.
