Cedars-Sinai, Anthem Blue Cross Extend Longstanding Contract

Cedars-Sinai and Anthem Blue Cross(Anthem) today announced a multiyear extension of their long-term partnership, ensuring continued in-network access for more than 230,000 Anthem members who seek care at Cedars-Sinai hospitals, specialists, facilities and affiliated providers until Jan. 1, 2030.

The agreement, which was set to expire at the end of 2025, covers Anthem plans at Cedars-Sinai locations that currently participate with the health insurer.

The contract extension comes amid increasing uncertainty in the healthcare market as changes at the state and federal levels affect the availability of care. Both organizations said the contract would ensure continued access to top-tier care at Cedars-Sinai and its affiliates in the years ahead.

"As healthcare continues to face many challenges and headwinds, our continued agreement with Anthem provides stability for our patients and employees for years to come," said Peter L. Slavin, MD, president and CEO of Cedars-Sinai Health System and the David and Meredith Kaplan Presidential Chair. "We appreciate the important partnership we have developed and strengthened with Anthem over many decades, and we look forward to continuing the relationship well into the future."

Cedars-Sinai employees and their families have relied on Anthem for health insurance for more than 40 years. The two organizations also have long worked together to make healthcare available and affordable to Anthem members in California.

Cedars-Sinai is a founding member of Vivity Health, an HMO health plan developed in partnership with Anthem 10 years ago to give members access to top-ranked healthcare providers and physicians across Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The ongoing collaboration has supported quality-based reimbursement models, better clinical decision-making and faster review processes for patients who receive their healthcare at one of the nation's top academic medical centers.

For eight consecutive years, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has earned the highest distinction-5 stars-from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for the quality and safety of care, placing the institution among the best hospitals in the country.

And for 10 straight years, the medical center has been named to the Honor Roll in U.S. News & World Report's "Best Hospitals" rankings-tying for #1 in California and Los Angeles in 2025.

"Anthem Blue Cross has a long history of collaboration with Cedars-Sinai to improve healthcare quality and affordability," said Beth Andersen, president, Anthem Blue Cross Commercial Health Plans in California. "We are grateful for Cedars-Sinai's continued partnership and shared commitment to long-term stability and improved health outcomes for our members."
