Pedestrian Fatally Injured on Gallatin Pike
The pedestrian fatally injured Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on Gallatin Pike at Virginia Avenue is tentatively identified as a 71-year-old Nashville man.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a 2019 Hyundai Sonata was traveling southbound on Gallatin Pike when he struck the pedestrian who, according to witnesses, was in the center turning lane prior to attempting to cross the roadway. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
There was no evidence of impairment on behalf of the driver or pedestrian at the scene. This fatal crash occurred outside of a crosswalk.
