Chef, author and artist Bryant Terry to deliver VCU Libraries’ fall lecture on Oct. 15

Bryant Terry, a James Beard Award-winning chef, food activist and author, will deliver VCU Libraries' 2025 fall lecture, "Food for All: Intersections of Politics, Poverty, Public Health and the Environment."

Terry will speak at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the James Branch Cabell Library lecture hall, 901 Park Ave., and via Zoom. Terry's remarks will touch on African American cuisine and its evolution through the lens of migration, identity and resilience.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Terry is a chef, multidisciplinary artist and author of five cookbooks, including "Vegetable Kingdom" and "Afro-Vegan," as well as the editor of "Black Food" and "The Best American Food and Travel Writing 2025." From 2015 to 2022, he served as the inaugural chef-in-residence at San Francisco's Museum of the African Diaspora, where he curated programming connecting food, health, farming and art.
