AdventHealth helps Central Florida students as they head back to school

ORLANDO, Fla. - A new school year brings excitement for students and their families. Having the right supplies can help students start the year feeling confident and ready for the classroom.

Through AdventHealth's Backpack for Kids initiative, team members helped provide school supplies to students, families and community partners across Central Florida.

This year, more than 600 backpacks were distributed to AdventHealth team members in need while more than 2,450 were donated to schools and community partners.

Backpacks and supplies went to organizations, including Tools 4 Seminole Schools, Apopka Elementary School, Osceola Education Foundation, A Gift for Teaching, Central Avenue Elementary School, Boys & Girls Club and Special Hearts Farm.

AdventHealth team members also packed grade-level appropriate backpacks, donated supplies and made financial contributions through a virtual supply drive.

The Central Florida Division supported several additional back-to-school events this year, including free school physicals with Osceola County Schools, A Gift for Teaching's Great Big Backpack Build, a Tools 4 Seminole Schools sorting event and a Blessings in a Backpack packing event.

For AdventHealth, helping students is part of caring for the whole person. Access to school supplies can support a student's confidence and ability to focus on learning.

Through these efforts, AdventHealth team members are extending their care beyond the hospital walls and into the neighborhoods where they live and work.
