Update: Jordi Matos-Espinoza, 18, surrendered to police downtown a short time ago. He is now charged with attempted criminal homicide, felony reckless endangerment, use of a gun in the commission of a dangerous felony, and vandalism. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $150,000.
Specialized Investigations Division detectives are working to confirm the name of the person, likely a teen, who shot and wounded a clerk at the Mapco convenience store at 3900 Lebanon Pike Monday night.
The shooter, shown in the attached photographs, entered the market just after 9:30 p.m. The 34-year-old clerk reported that he recognized the person as someone who had stolen from the market previously. The clerk said he approached the individual, who backed out of the door and pulled a pistol from his waistband. Shots were fired and the clerk was wounded in the hip and finger.
Specialized Investigations Division detectives are pursuing strong leads in this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
