On March 15-17, 2026 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria concurrently, Evgueni Sobolevski, visited Algeria to follow up on the agreements reached during the visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus, A leksandr Lukashenko to Algeria in December 2025.
A meeting was held with the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries of Algeria and Co-Chair of the Joint Belarusian-Algerian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, Yacine Oualid.
The parties discussed preparations for the Commission's meeting and the organisation of business events within its framework. They noted the progress achieved in cooperation in the field of agriculture. The parties emphasised their readiness to continue working on joint projects in the field of food security and confirmed their interest in expanding the range of Belarusian products supplied to Algeria, including veterinary drugs and feed.
At a meeting with the Minister of Industry of Algeria, Yahya Bashir, the positive momentum in contacts between industrial enterprises of the two countries was noted, and issues regarding the implementation of planned projects in this area were discussed.
During negotiations with the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines of Algeria, Mohamed Arkab, specific steps were outlined to intensify cooperation in the mining, oil and gas sectors.
The Belarusian diplomat also met with the Director General of the European Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of Algeria, Said Mizyane.
The interlocutors reviewed the schedule of bilateral events for the near future. They discussed the progress in implementing the full range of agreements reached during the visit at the highest level in December 2025, with a focus on the trade and economic sphere. They emphasised the potential for developing humanitarian cooperation.
