"Portugal and Spain acknowledge that the recent successive Atlantic storms hitting the Iberian Peninsula showed the impact of climate change and insist on the urgent need to boost the operational coordination mechanisms. As such, they note the excellent cooperation between the respective water authorities concerning the coordinated management of the cross-border water basis, the efficacy of which was decisive to mitigate the impact of the floods caused by the storms. Likewise, they are aware of the importance of intensifying collaboration regarding droughts, which are increasingly serious due to climate change."
