Speaker Rivas Statement on California Lawsuit Challenging Planned ICE Detention Center in Santa Clara County

SACRAMENTO - Speaker of the Assembly Robert Rivas, who represents Gilroy in the Legislature, issues the following statement on the state of California and Santa Clara County's lawsuit challenging the Trump administration's proposed ICE detention center:
"Our community is not a dumping ground for Trump's ICE chaos. Not here. Not ever. I stand with our neighbors and fully support California's lawsuit against Trump's failed immigration agenda - and we will not stop fighting."
Speaker Rivas has previously condemned Trump and the federal government's proposal to build a detention center for ICE near Gilroy.
On Wednesday, the state Department of Justice and Santa Clara County filed a lawsuit to block the unlawful development of an ICE detention center in the unincorporated county.
