DGA Chair Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear released the following statement on Gov. Ned Lamont securing the Democratic nomination for governor in Connecticut:

"Congratulations to Gov. Ned Lamont on becoming the Democratic nominee for governor in Connecticut. Gov. Lamont is a fighter who knows how to get results that actually improve people's lives. Under Gov. Lamont's leadership, Connecticut passed one of the best Paid Family and Medical Leave Programs in the country, raised the minimum wage to nearly $17 an hour, cut taxes for working families and the middle class, and paid down $11 billion in debt. In the past year alone, he has fought to bring down electric bills, secured free school breakfasts for students, expanded affordable child care, and delivered critical investments in public education - while also fearlessly standing up to the Trump administration's attacks on Connecticut. Gov. Lamont is one of the most popular governors in the country because he knows how to fight and deliver on the priorities Connecticut cares about - and the DGA is proud to support his reelection campaign."
