Rep. Floyd Griffin to Deliver Emancipation Day Address at Wesley Chapel AME Church in Milledgeville

ATLANTA - State Representative Floyd Griffin (D-Milledgeville) will deliver the keynote address at the annual Emancipation Day Program on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 12 p.m. at Wesley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME) in Milledgeville, Georgia.

"Emancipation Day is not just a commemoration of the past," said Rep. Griffin. "It is a reminder of the duty we carry - to stand up, show up and protect the promise of freedom for those who will come after us. Our ancestors fought for it. Now we must do our part."

This year's theme is "Boots on the Ground: Protecting the Freedom Our Ancestors Prayed For."

The program is open to the public, and Rep. Griffin encourages community members across Baldwin County and Middle Georgia to attend.
