Sumter County Public Works Begins Emergency Water Pumping on CR 519A in Coleman

In response to the ongoing high-water conditions under Governor Ron DeSantis' Emergency Declaration and Emergency Order EO No. SWF 24-030 issued by the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD), Sumter County Public Works initiated emergency water pumping efforts on CR 519A in Coleman today, November 5, 2024.

Partnering with RCM Utilities, LLC under the County's emergency services contract, Public Works is using tanker trucks to transport water from CR 519A to a designated retention area on Industrial Parkway. Approximately 35,000 gallons have been pumped and relocated as of today.

Pumping operations will continue tomorrow, November 6, 2024, to help alleviate water accumulation and mitigate potential roadway and infrastructure impacts.
