SL Navy 4 FAF veterans felicitated

The 4^th Fast Attack Flotilla (4 FAF) of the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) felicitated a group of its veterans at a ceremony recently. According to SLN media sources, this inaugural ceremony saw 4 FAF veterans wounded in action (WIA) being honoured at the 4 FAF War Monument in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee, on Saturday (Oct 19). The Commander of the Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Damian Fernando graced the ceremony as the chief guest.

The 4 FAF has performed many valiant operations in fulfilling its critical role in preserving maritime security in the North and East. During the ceremony, one officer and 41 sailors who were released from duties due to action-related disabilities were honoured with recognition for their service, it said.

The occasion also facilitated the veterans to share their wartime experiences and knowledge with the young officers and sailors presently serving in the 4 FAF at a discussion held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium.

The Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Varuna Ferdinandusz, officers and sailors from the Eastern Naval Command and 4 FAF were also present on this occasion, it further said.
