Tuscaloosa National Airport Receives $8.5 Million Congressional Appropriation

The Tuscaloosa National Airport has been allocated $8.5 million in federal funding for terminal improvements by Congressman Robert Aderholt as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill.
"This investment will allow us to enhance the terminal experience now and into the future," said Jeff Powell, Director of the Tuscaloosa National Airport. "We're grateful for continued federal support of local infrastructure that keeps our city connected and moving forward. We thank Congressman Aderholt and the Alabama congressional delegation for their support of this project and for their continued commitment to aviation infrastructure in Alabama."
The Tuscaloosa City Council will soon vote on a $13 million match funded through Elevate Tuscaloosa for a total investment of $21.5 million. The funding will be used to update and expand the airport's terminal, giving the airport the ability to modernize facilities, improve passenger experience and better serve those in the West Alabama area.
"The City Council and I are proud to partner with Congressman Robert Aderholt and our entire congressional delegation to strengthen this vital transportation hub for our region," said Mayor Walt Maddox. "Thanks to Elevate Tuscaloosa, the airport has undergone transformative improvements over the past five years. This investment ensures we can continue building a modern, connected future for West Alabama."
The bill passed through the House of Representatives on January 23, and through the Senate on February 3. The President signed it into law on February 3.
