Norton Rose Fulbright advises North Queensland Airports on refinancing of corporate debt facilities for Cairns Airport and Mackay Airport

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised North Queensland Airports (NQA) on the A$1.085 billion refinancing of its corporate bank debt financing arrangements.

NQA is the owner and operator of Cairns Airport and Mackay Airport, two key aviation gateways supporting tourism, freight and regional connectivity in North Queensland.

Norton Rose Fulbright worked closely with RBC Capital Markets, financial adviser to NQA, to document, negotiate and complete the transaction, which involved funding from a syndicate of Australian and international commercial bank lenders and Export Finance Australia.

The financing supports the continued development and operation of NQA's airport assets, which play a key role in enabling economic growth across Northern Australia.

The transaction reflects ongoing investment in essential transport infrastructure across the region and the importance of aviation assets in supporting tourism, trade and long-term regional development.

Norton Rose Fulbright partner Alen Pazin, who led the matter, commented:

"We are pleased to have supported North Queensland Airports on this important transaction. The financing demonstrates continued confidence in high-quality infrastructure assets in Northern Australia and the critical role they play in supporting regional economies and connectivity."

The CFO of the NQA Group added:

"Norton Rose Fulbright played a key role in the execution of this transaction. Their industry knowledge and capital markets expertise in infrastructure were instrumental to achieving a successful outcome."

Alen was supported by special counsel Elouise Dellit, and associates Jeanette Loh and Bella Baker. Tax advice was provided by partner Greg Reinhardt and senior associate Seema Mishra.
