Cycle for Survival was started in 2007 by the late Jennifer Goodman Linn and her husband, Dave Linn. Today, Cycle for Survival is fueled by dedicated fundraisers and donors, as well as the generous support of corporate partners and signature sponsors. Instructors from Equinox, Cycle for Survival's founding partner, lead the high-energy rides at Equinox clubs.

"Cycle for Survival unites the entire Equinox community around a shared commitment to advancing rare cancer research," said Harvey Spevak, Executive Chairman and Managing Partner of Equinox Group. "Each year, our members, instructors, and leadership are proud to support Cycle for Survival at clubs across the country, creating an atmosphere of inspiration and purpose that makes these rides so meaningful."

Signature sponsors also help bring the Cycle for Survival experience to life throughout the season. NOBULL returns for a second year as the program's Official Performance Apparel Sponsor, giving participants the opportunity to earn exclusive Cycle for Survival x NOBULL gear through their fundraising efforts. Essentia® Water, the Official Hydration Sponsor, provides water to event attendees as part of its three-year commitment to supporting the Cycle for Survival community. Custom Ink provides the program T-shirts distributed to participants and helps teams, companies, and supporters create custom shirts and accessories. ICAP sponsors an annual fundraising challenge that gives participants an additional boost as they raise money for rare cancer research.

Rare cancers include blood, brain, ovarian, pancreatic, and pediatric cancers, as well as melanoma and many other types of the disease. About 50% of people with cancer have a rare cancer. But research on these diseases is largely underfunded, which means that people diagnosed with a rare cancer often have limited treatment options. Cycle for Survival helps fill this gap by funding the groundbreaking work of doctors and researchers at MSK.

The impact of Cycle for Survival's fundraising can be seen in the stories of people who have benefited from advances in rare cancer research. Earlier this year, the Today show featured Cycle for Survival participant Norah Lewin, who was diagnosed with stage 3 stomach cancer at age 39 and is now cancer free after receiving treatment at MSK. "I wanted to be part of a new story and a new statistic for stomach cancer," said Lewin.

Lewin's physician, Yelena Janjigian, MD, Chief of MSK's Gastrointestinal Oncology Service and Carroll and Milton Petrie Chair, has participated in Cycle for Survival for more than a decade. She spoke about how research funding helps advance cancer treatment: "These breakthroughs, made possible by the funding that Cycle for Survival brings in, help cure patients like Norah. At MSK, we drive discoveries and innovations that then affect the entire world."

Since 2007, Cycle for Survival has raised more than $450 million for groundbreaking research at MSK. Cycle for Survival funding supports rare cancer research from laboratory studies to clinical trials, helping researchers turn bold ideas into new treatment options for people with cancer. Cycle for Survival has also supported the development of MSK-IMPACT®, a genomic profiling test that analyzes more than 500 cancer-associated genes and helps match patients to more effective therapies.
