The Department of Defense of the United States and the Ministry of Defence of Singapore have signed the third installment of the Combating Terrorism Research and Development Agreement. The CTRD Agreement, now extended to March 21, 2036, aims to develop and test novel and emerging technologies to deter and neutralize terrorist threats, including those posed by near-peer adversaries. Through collaborative efforts, each country is accountable for 50% of the cost, with oversight provided by the Secretariat for Special Operations under DoD's ASD(SO/LIC). This agreement, in line with the United States' Interim National Defense Strategic Guidance, will help accelerate the development of capabilities on a cost-effective basis in the critical Indo-Pacific region and underscores the strong partnership between the United States and Singapore in addressing global security challenges.
