This past week, I've watched with growing concern as our law enforcement officers-those who put their lives on the line every day to uphold the rule of law-have come under attack. Not just from violent agitators outside the Broadview ICE facility, but from elected officials who should know better.
When masked federal agents are forced to deploy pepper balls to protect themselves from rioters, when vehicles are blocked, tires slashed, and officers doxxed online, we're witnessing a breakdown of public order. And yet, instead of calling for peace, Mayor Brandon Johnson chose to inflame tensions by saying that Law Enforcement is a "sickness" that "needs to be eradicated." That rhetoric is reckless, dangerous, and beneath the dignity of his office.
Let me be clear: I will not stand by while our officers are vilified for doing their jobs. I introduced House Resolution 428 to reaffirm our support for federal immigration officers and to call out the growing threats they face. These men and women are public servants. They deserve our respect.
I understand that immigration enforcement is a complex and emotional issue, but we cannot allow misinformation and intimidation to erode the integrity of our institutions. Respecting the rule of law means respecting those who enforce it.
So, I ask again: Are we still willing to stand up for law enforcement? I am. And I hope you'll join me.

The Verdict Is In: SAFE-T Act Is Not Working Two Years Later
Two years after the SAFE-T Act's no-cash bail system took effect, Illinois families are still grappling with the fallout: peat offenders walking free, overwhelmed courts, and law enforcement stripped of critical tools. What was sold as "fairness" has instead fueled confusion, risk, and rising costs for communities already stretched thin.

Honoring Charlie Kirk
The loss of Charlie Kirk is a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile our public discourse has become. Charlie was a bold voice for free speech and a proud son of Illinois whose passion for civic engagement inspired countless young Americans. His murder while speaking at a campus event shows us the urgent need to reject political violence and recommit to respectful dialogue, no matter our differences. I've filed a resolution honoring Charlie's life and legacy, and I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to stand united in that commitment.

Illinois Democrats Want You to Pay Up
Illinois families are still reeling after Democrats pushed nearly $1 billion in tax hikes through during the spring. Now, with Veto Session approaching, they're eyeing your wallet again, this time with proposals like a $1.50 delivery tax and a sweeping service tax that would hit everything from haircuts to car repairs.
These ideas didn't pass in May, but they're far from dead. I'm sounding the alarm because hardworking families, seniors, and small businesses can't afford another round of tax hikes.
