The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service office in Sitka will host two culinary workshops this month, one sweet and one savory.
On Sunday, Feb. 22, Paula Veshti will lead a workshop celebrating heart health and chocolate. Participants will make two chocolate-themed recipes using delicious, nutritious ingredients specifically chosen for heart health. Veshti is a dietetics student at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
The two-hour workshop begins at 2:22 p.m. The cost is $22.22. Space is limited. Register using the online formor visit https://bit.ly/ChocolateLovers2.
The second workshop is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, from 4-6 p.m. Abhi Abhinav is a high school exchange student from a village in India who learned how to cook by watching his parents. He will teach Sitkans how to make yellow potato curry. The cost is $40. Space is limited. Register using the online formor visit https://bit.ly/SitkaCurry.
Both workshops will be in the Sitka Lutheran Church kitchen, 224 Lincoln St. Participants should park on Lincoln Street and enter on the side. The class will take place in the kitchen down a set of stairs.
