Senate Republicans Confirm 13 U.S. Attorneys, 8 U.S. Marshals

WASHINGTON - Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) applauded the Senate's confirmation of 13 U.S. Attorneys and eight U.S. Marshals. The nominees were confirmed as part of a nominations package of 49 executive nominees, by a vote of 46-43.

Under Grassley's leadership in the 119th Congress, the Senate Judiciary Committee has so far advanced 124 nominees, including: seven U.S. circuit judges, 37 U.S. district judges, one U.S. Court of International Trade judge, 46 U.S. Attorneys and 12 U.S. Marshals. The Senate has now confirmed 110 of those nominees, including: six circuit judges, 31 district judges, 44 U.S. Attorneys and eight U.S. Marshals.

"U.S. Attorneys and U.S. Marshals are essential components of federal law enforcement - responsible for prosecuting violent offenders, safeguarding the public and enforcing the rule of law. On the heels of National Police Week, I'm proud Republicans are delivering states' their top law enforcement officials," Grassley said. "It's clear that Democrats are determined to deny and defund our nation's brave men and women in blue. Republicans will continue to unapologetically back the blue, ensuring America's law enforcement officers are confirmed, supported and fully funded. As Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, I'll continue my work to advance President Trump's law and order nominees."

Background:

Historically, executive nominees - like U.S. Attorneys and U.S. Marshals - were routinely confirmed on a bipartisan basis due to their non-political and non-controversial nature. That bipartisan tradition was destroyed last year when Senate Democrats placed a blanket hold on all of President Trump's 93 U.S. Attorneys.

Senate Republicans overcame the partisan blockade in October of 2025, confirming 16 U.S. Attorneys as part of an initial nominations package of 107 executive nominees. The Senate confirmed an additional 14 U.S. Attorneys last December, as part of a second nominations package of 97 nominees.
