ATF chief counsel to return to George Mason University

WASHINGTON - Today the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives announces that ATF Chief Counsel Robert Leider has resigned from his position at ATF and is expected to return to his academic post as Assistant Professor of Law at the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University. Mr. Leider joined ATF in early 2025 and has served with distinction, supporting the agency's development and release of more than 40 proposed and final rules, a significant body of work that strengthened ATF's regulatory framework. We extend our sincere appreciation for his service and wish him every success as he resumes his academic career.
