Students are planting the first seeds of the season, growing a mix of native plants and common garden favorites, including tomatoes, peppers, and other vegetables. The work is led by faculty members Dr. Rickey Cothran, Dr. Mark Garcia, Dr. Marcella Santos, and Dr. Liedson Carneiro, who oversee the project and work closely with students throughout the process.

Faculty members and students work together to start plants for the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences' annual plant sale at SWOSU.

The annual plant sale is part of hands-on experience in plant propagation and care, giving students experience that spans from seed planting to maintaining healthy seedlings as they grow. In addition to its role in instruction, the sale provides the community with access to locally grown plants produced through the department's teaching efforts.
