An in-person meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 18 at City of Bismarck Public Works, 601 S 26th Street in Bismarck. The Public Input Meeting will utilize an open house format with a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.
Supporting materials will be available on the City of Bismarck Website on the event date of Nov. 18.
The purpose of the Public Input Meeting is to discuss the proposed creation of a Street Utility to replace special assessments for street maintenance. The Street Utility would be funded through a monthly fee on the utility bill, similar to water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and lights and traffic signals. The Street Utility would be responsible for pavement management, including crack sealing, chip sealing, mill and overlay, and full-depth pavement rehabilitation that is currently funded through special assessments. The City of Bismarck anticipates proposing the creation of the Street Utility to the voters during the June 2026 primary election.
The Public Input Meeting will provide an opportunity for public input to shape the scope and responsibilities of the Street Utility. Representatives from the City of Bismarck will be on hand to answer your questions and discuss your concerns.
The City of Bismarck will be hosting a survey to gather public input on this proposal through December 5. Survey information will be posted on November 18.
