On 10 February, Ambassador Jia Guide, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, attended and addressed the Spring Festival celebration hosted by the Chinese Mission at the Palais des Nations. Around 600 guests were present, including Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, permanent representatives of various countries and heads of international organizations, as well as Madame Yu Qunhui, wife of Ambassador Jia Guide, Ambassador Li Yongjie, Permanent Representative of China to the World Trade Organization and Ambassador Shen Jian for Disarmament Affairs.
In his remarks, Ambassador Jia noted that the Spring Festival embodies the enduring Chinese values of peace, harmony and unity. In that spirit and looking ahead into the Year of the House,China stands ready to continue pursuing all-round development with confidence, embrace the world with openness, work with all parties to promote global governance toward a more just and equitable direction, and inject greater confidence and vitality into the United Nations and multilateralism.
Director-General Valovaya thanked the Chinese side for hosting the Spring Festival celebration at the Palais des Nations. She expressed the hope that in the year ahead, all parties would stay the course, build mutual trust, rise above differences, and move forward with high momentum in the Year of the Horse.
The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Amid laughter and festive cheer, guests expressed their readiness to work with China and move forward side by side toward a better future of a community with a shared future for humanity.
