Morocco, Greece Determined to Revitalize Bilateral Partnership

This determination was expressed during a meeting between Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita, who is on a working visit to Greece.

The first visit to Greece by a Moroccan foreign minister at this level in more than three decades, Bourita's visit carries particular significance.

On this occasion, the two ministers welcomed the excellent relations between the two countries and reaffirmed their determination to intensify political dialogue, increase high-level exchanges of visits and deepen consultations on bilateral, regional and international issues of common interest.

The two ministers agreed to translate this new momentum into the revitalization and diversification of bilateral cooperation.

With Gerapetritis expected to visit Morocco shortly, the talks focused on drawing up a roadmap to support this new phase, particularly in the areas of economic and trade cooperation, investment, green energy, defense, tourism and maritime transport, as well as culture, justice and consular affairs.

To give concrete substance to this ambition, the two ministers stressed the need to accelerate the pace of bilateral cooperation mechanisms and enhance their effectiveness.

They also emphasized the importance of enriching and updating the legal framework governing relations between the two countries.

This new phase in the Moroccan-Greek partnership also falls within the broader framework of relations between Morocco and the European Union.

In this regard, the two ministers highlighted the positive role played by Greece in advancing these relations. They also welcomed the outcomes of the 15th session of the Morocco-EU Association Council, as well as the launch of the new Pact for the Mediterranean.

Finally, the two officials welcomed the quality of cooperation between Morocco and Greece within international bodies, underscoring the constructive role played by the two countries at the regional and international levels in promoting stability, security and peace.

They also noted the convergence of their efforts in combating terrorism and irregular migration.
