BOR Approves Tuition Rate for 2026–2027 | 5/20/26

CUSTER, S.D. - The South Dakota Board of Regents has approved tuition rates for the 2026-2027 academic year across South Dakota's public university system, continuing a statewide commitment to student success, workforce development, and expanded opportunities for South Dakota students.

The 2.4% tuition adjustment supports technology investments, ensures university security, and maintains innovation and academic excellence. Even as technology and operational costs continue to rise, the public university system remains committed to investing in student support services, workforce-focused programs, and high-quality learning experiences that prepare graduates to succeed in South Dakota communities.

"Our public universities are engines of opportunity," said BOR Board President Jeff Partridge. "The investments we make today help ensure students have the tools, experiences, and support necessary to succeed in South Dakota's growing economy and contribute to the future of our state."

South Dakota's public universities: Northern State University, South Dakota State University, Dakota State University, University of South Dakota, Black Hills State University, and South Dakota Mines continue to focus on preparing students for in-demand careers with competitive tuition rates.

"Our public universities are essential in providing accessible higher education opportunities for all residents of South Dakota," said BOR Executive Director Nathan Lukkes. "We remain dedicated to ensuring that every student can pursue a first-rate college degree close to home at an affordable cost."

Additionally, the Board approved a 5% tuition adjustment for South Dakota Mines, reflecting their expansion and higher demand for experiential, hands-on learning.
