Walmart and the Walmart Foundation Commit $500,000 to Spokane Wildfire Relief

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Aug. 11, 2026 - As communities face the impacts of the Spokane Complex Fires, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation are committing $500,000 in grants and in-kind support to help meet immediate needs across the region. Since the fires began, Walmart teams have been working closely with local leaders and community organizations including Innovia Foundation, Save The Children, Second Harvest Food Bank, Spokane Public Schools, and Spokane County Emergency Management to understand needs and support the broader response.

A Community Facing the Fires

The Spokane Complex Fires have upended lives with over 625 residential structures lost and over 1,300 residents affected by evacuations.

Supporting Immediate Relief

The company's response includes:

• A $500,000 commitment from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation, distributed between grants and in-kind support, to help meet urgent needs across communities impacted.
  • Grant funding directed to organizations providing relief and direct household assistance in some of the hardest-hit communities.
  • In-kind support to help address critical needs, including food and water, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, diapers, and other essential items for displaced families and communities.
• Walmart Store 5883 is serving as a gathering place for nonprofit and community organizations supporting the response. Located near Incident Command, an evacuation center, and first-responder operations, the store has become an important location for those serving the community.
• As families across the region prepare for the school year, Walmart is also working with Spokane Public Schools to help students and families replace school supplies and other essentials lost in the fires. At Shadle Park High School, Spokane Public Schools have created a Disaster Response Center where families can drop-in for school supplies, baby formula, apparel and other essentials.
