NYSUT responds to ICE raids across New York
NYSUT President Melinda Person released the following statement about reports of ICE raids and other activities affecting communities and schools across New York state today:
"When immigration enforcement intrudes on school communities, it tears at the very fabric of public education. Every family should feel safe and secure in fully participating in their children's education.
When parents are afraid to attend school events, volunteer in classrooms, or even drop their children off at school, we all lose. This is not the America our public schools were built to serve."
