Entergy named a Top Utility in economic development for 18th year in a row

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - For the 18th consecutive year, Site Selection magazine has named Entergy a Top Utility in economic development.

The communities we serve host some of the largest and most power-intensive industries in the United States. In 2024, Entergy Texas helped secure capital investments and create more than 1,500 new jobs within Southeast Texas.

"Being recognized as a top utility in economic development reflects our ongoing commitment to powering progress and growth across Southeast Texas," said Ernest L. Peeples, Vice President, Business and Economic Development, Entergy Texas. "We're strengthening the region's infrastructure, attracting new business investments and creating jobs to drive economic activity that benefits all Texans in the region."

In addition to creating jobs, these projects are expected to generate increased tax revenues for state and local governments, leading to better schools, roads and public facilities for residents and their families.

Site Selection magazine assesses each utility's job-creating infrastructure and facility investment trends, innovative programs and incentives for businesses and website tools and data. You can view the magazine's profile of Entergy in the September 2025 print issue and online.

Customer investments

Capital investments in Southeast Texas over the last 18 years represent a variety of industries and companies from around the world, including chemical manufacturing, paper, metals, midstream, LNG and logistics. Texas has been consecutively awarded the best state to do business due to a strong and robust economy, superior infrastructure and business friendly regulations.

For Entergy Texas, investments in infrastructure as part of the company's Southeast Texas Energy Plan, or STEP Ahead, are underway to meet the region's growing power needs and spur economic growth. The recent approvals of Legend and Lone Star power stations, transmission line approvals like SETEX and ongoing resiliency upgrades to protect the grid from extreme weather will improve service reliability and capacity to support future population growth and industrial expansion. The six-step plan also aims to maintain affordable rates to support our growing communities, which were 17% below the national average and consistently among the lowest in the Lone Star state over the last decade.
