​​​​​​​Fort William and Ardnamurchan By-Election Result

The by-election to elect a councillor to represent Ward 21 - Fort William and Ardnamurchan on The Highland Council has been won by Matthew Prosser, Scottish Liberal Democrats who was one of six candidates who contested the vacancy.

Voters went to the poll yesterday (Thursday 11 December 2025) and the by-election count was held this morning and relayed live on the Council's social media channels.

Voting was by the single transferable vote and Matthew emerged as the winner at stage 5 of the count.

The turnout was 25.9%.

Ward 21 is a 4-member ward and Matthew will join fellow members Councillors Andrew Baxter, Thomas MacLennan and Kate Willis in representing the ward.
