Vivalyx, a Cologne-based BVP portfolio company working on the preservation and revitalisation of donor organs, has been awarded the Purpose and Impact Award at the third edition of the ODDO BHF Young Entrepreneurs Awards (OYEA), held in mid-June in Frankfurt am Main before an audience of around four hundred guests, with the company emerging from an initial field of one hundred applicants and a final round of ten.
The award, which carries a prize of ten thousand euros, recognised Vivalyx for a mission that goes to the heart of one of transplantation medicine's most persistent constraints, namely how to keep a donor organ viable, and in good condition, for long enough to reach the patient who needs it. The company is developing a synthetic, blood-free perfusion solution designed to preserve and revitalise donor organs, with the aim of making more organs available, and in better quality, than current preservation methods allow.
Vivalyx was one of four companies honoured on the evening, alongside Linque from Munich (Jury's Award), VitaSeq from Hamburg (Innovation and Disruption Award) and Histomography from Göttingen (People's Choice Award), a group that together reflects the breadth of the European deep-tech and health-technology landscape.
We warmly congratulate Andreas Schumacher, the CEO, and the whole Vivalyx team on the recognition, and we thank ODDO BHF for the work it continues to do in support of entrepreneurship across Europe.
