Director Angus Wall ’88 Examines Arc of Eddie Murphy's Career

Being Eddie was released on Netflix in November. It traces Murphy's rise to fame, from standup comic in Los Angeles at age 17 to star of blockbuster films, and includes testimonies from other comedians-like Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, Jamie Foxx, Dave Chappelle, and Pete Davidson-who give him credit for much of their own success.

"There's just nobody like Eddie Murphy," Wallsaid in a press release. "He's funny, he's an icon, and he's a blueprint for how to be in the world. I'm excited for people to experience him in this film, and grateful for how generous he-and everyone-has been."

Bowdoin alumnus John Davis '77 was a producer on the film.

Wall has won Oscars for his film editing of The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and has founded two production companies, Rock Paper Scissors and MakeMake Entertainment. He majored in studio art at Bowdoin.
