Volunteers sought to join Organ Donation Committee

Health & Social Care is seeking to appoint two new members of the public to its Organ Donation Committee.

The Donation Committee plays an important role in supporting and promoting organ donation in Guernsey, providing life-changing opportunities for islanders. It provides oversight, advice and challenge to help ensure opportunities for organ donation are recognised and that best practice is followed across healthcare services.

The voluntary positions are open to people from a wide range of professional backgrounds who have an interest in healthcare and improving outcomes for islanders. Applicants do not need to have worked in the health sector.

Successful candidates will be expected to attend up to three Committee meetings each year and contribute their skills, experience and perspective to discussions around organ donation and transplantation.

The Committee is particularly keen to attract applicants who are able to think strategically, communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. Drawing on professional and community experience, members help the Committee benefit from independent viewpoints and remains focused on the needs of the wider community.

John Eaton, Lead Nurse for Acute and Critical Care and a member of the Organ Donation Committee, said:

We are keen to hear from people who can bring fresh perspectives, professional expertise and a genuine interest in healthcare.
