LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is hosting a virtual public hearing on its 2026 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program State Plan from 2 to 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 6.
The Weatherization Assistance Program provides energy conservation and related health and safety services for eligible low-income households at no cost to residents. MDHHS contracts with local weatherization operators at Community Action Agencies across the state to provide the services.
The purpose of the hearing is to receive comments from interested Michigan residents about the plan, which covers the period of July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. Attendees should register online for the virtual hearing.
Copies of the Michigan Weatherization Assistance Program State Plan may be obtained for review by emailing [email protected]. Written comments regarding the plan will be accepted through Friday, April 10, and should be emailed with the subject "DOE WAP State Plan Comments" to [email protected].
