Teaching and Learning Co-op to host studio conversations for faculty starting Oct. 28

October 25, 2024

The Teaching & Learning Cooperative is offering "TLC Studio Conversations," to engage faculty and anyone who teaches at Western in discussions on important topics that lead to success in the classroom. These sessions are offered twice each term in-person with simultaneous Zoom access.

At these sessions, ATUS and OCE colleagues, with faculty attendees, will engage with questions, discuss ideas, and share resources. Food and WWU colleagues are welcome; coffee and tea are provided in the TLC Studio, located on the top floor of College Hall. At this time, the College Hall elevator is currently out of order. If you would like to join via Zoom instead, please contact [email protected].

October 28, 2:30 p.m. - 3:20 p.m. - Brainstorming about Inclusive Teaching

At this session, Lauren Nicandri, Lee Posthumus, & Justina Brown will explore the following questions and anything else attendees would like to discuss on this topic.

  • What does inclusion mean to you and what might this look like in your courses?
  • What innate barriers and advantages does your discipline present?
  • What are some practical ideas that can be implemented now, soon, and later?

Timeline

  • 2:30-2:40 - Arrival, greetings, and coffee or tea
  • 2:40-3:10 - Attendees will share and discuss with facilitators common questions, topics, and resources.
  • 3:10-3:20 - Wrap up and connect ideas for taking practical action.
