USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture has awarded $2.5 million in funding to support four projects funded by the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative program area priority Environmental and Natural Resource Economics (A1651). Environmental and Natural Resource Economics examines the interrelationship of natural resources and the environment with agriculture and rural communities. Research projects will advance economic theories, methods, tools, analyses, and applications that contribute to understanding an ecological approach to agriculture to balance production and resource management and conservation. Current topics include impacts conservation on agriculture, groundwater conservation policies, and safety of rural drinking water.
