Transmission Line Replacement to Affect Portion of Latham Park Greenway

To prepare for Duke Energy grid upgrades, crews are scheduled to begin tree trimming and vegetation removal along portions of the Latham Park Greenway this week, starting near the Latham Skate Park, 790 Hill St., and continuing through Latham Park toward Elm Street.

A full greenway closure is not expected during this phase. Crews will be on-site to direct park visitors along safe detour routes around active work areas. Work will pause as needed to allow pedestrians to pass safely through the work zone.

Work is scheduled for the following periods:

• October 12-16

• October 19-23

• November 2-6

• November 9-13

Work will generally take place on weekdays, but weekend work may occur if weather delays affect progress. No work is scheduled for October 26-31 to accommodate the potential increase in park and greenway traffic associated with North Carolina A&T State University's homecoming.

Vegetation treatment and removal should be completed by mid-November. This work is being done in preparation for more extensive power grid updates expected to begin in early 2027.
