A delegation of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosova (CBK) carried out an official visit to the Bank of Italy (Banca d'Italia), focusing on professional exchange and the advancement of supervisory practices within the Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP), the European Union's standard methodology for the comprehensive assessment of banking institutions.
During the visit, CBK officials held working meetings with their counterparts at the Bank of Italy, discussing approaches, methodologies, and the most advanced practices for implementing SREP. The program included dedicated professional sessions on:
• Assessing the risk profile of banks;
• Integrating quantitative and qualitative analysis within SREP;
• Supervisory reporting standards and alignment with European Banking Authority (EBA) guidelines;
• Managing operational, liquidity, capital, and internal governance risks; and
• Continuous monitoring models and risk-based supervisory approaches.
The CBK representatives highly valued the readiness and cooperation of the officials from the Bank of Italy, emphasizing that such exchanges contribute directly to strengthening supervisory capacities and implementing European standards within the banking system of the Republic of Kosovo.
The implementation of the SREP methodology remains one of the CBK's strategic priorities, aiming to strengthen financial stability, increase transparency, improve corporate governance, and advance the capacity of banking institutions to manage risks effectively.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides expressed a clear commitment to continue and deepen cooperation through further professional activities and the exchange of expertise in the field of supervision.
